Kids need to think for themselves

I wasn't taught to think for myself. Growing up in class, I felt very suppressed, it shouldn't be that way. Kids need to be encouraged to express their thoughts in school, and the only way to do that with any results is to encourage them to feel totally free. Meaning a complete disregard for their dressing, attitude, language, facial expressions. School is not the place to teach kids about out cultural mores, parents should do that. Have you ever heard the term, spreading yourself too thin? The only thing schools should preoccupy themselves with are: Learning how to learn. Everybody wants to know why it is, but we are tricked into thinking that it is no use, because if we don't learn it in school and at home from our parents why bother. Schools should kick out sentence structure, how to write a proper footnote page, and subjective teacher opinions, and all those other things that patronize kids. If a kid shows interest in head shrinking, help them research it. Research papers should be the primary focus of schools. Kick math out, we have computers to figure all that shit out. Teachers need to be unassuming. don't let a kid know that you have a negative opinion about them.

I liked this book al lot, I realized how closely linked Religion, philosophy, and psychology are linked. Here are some notes. Freud invented: -Creativity of scientist Oedipus Complex Because of moms nurturing, men need emotional support from women. And because of Dads control, men complete with each other and their fathers. -100 years ago, men were more romantic getting the girl, but after become ambivalent -Divorce- caused by men's inability to decide if they want their om in their wives or to get away from that. -Ancient Greece was more matriarchal -Men would rather die than be defeated by a woan...why? Transference- Relationship between therapist an patient. Patient gets attached to therapist, who needs to stay behind the so they don't get overwhelmed by the childlike attachment

-Therapist can get egotistical and superior because of this attachment which is not good -Meats its purpose because it brings patient to the root of the problem, their childhood -people want to be lead and others want to lead, human nature -A helpless society needs idols -The therapists job is to unite childlike emotions to rational adult thought Narcissism- Sex is "What make the world go around" -Megalomania- own self as omnipotent and omniscient -Narcissism natural and essential to humans -People can dissolve themselves into others -100 Years ago women were cold because men wanted them to be -Women better at coping with difficulties than men -Good artists are narcissistic shows that real love is out of our scope -He knew real love is caring for others more than oneself -Cleverness is manipulation, wisdom is true helpfulness -Egoism- Sees others as enemies and not friends -Narcissistic people make an effort to prove They aren't -Group Narcissism- Only now becoming regarded, before it was known that Narcissism individually was bad but group Narcissism wasn't, snow we know it is. Sadism- Aggression mixed with sex instinct, death instincts 'task' is to kill the organism, Sex produced to reunite us, freud thought men were superior Anal Character- See only negative -Animals orientate by smell, us by sight -Our was channeled into civilization, we are now less aggressive, violent -Holding back aggression causes illness that is why we in society are sick -Happiness is when you know neither coersion nor aggression -Disciples must change on teachers ideas to keep up with the times -Galileo proved against earth in center Darwin- Proved God didn't make us Freud- Proved we aren't totally rational, influenced by society the zeitgeist -Sex causes revolution? or and sex is result of 20th century consumerism, living and not saving Freud- ID in society are uneducated masses upper class are the rationalists and inventors -Communism brainwashes and didn't like freud -Freud neurosis is from sexual dissatisfaction -We cannot relate this much to primitive tribes -Freud said happiness and civilization exclude each other
